On Saturday, I ran the MGC Long Run 15K in Columbia, SC. This was the first for a couple of things. First time running in a race this year and first time running a 15K. I signed up for this race at the last minute (was very hesitant even at that point because the website indicated that late registration does not guarantee a t-shirt). YEAH!!! I run for BLING (and in this case, since it was a 15K, I knew there would be no medal, so the t-shirt counted as BLING!!!)!!! Well, I decided to sign up any way because the race was for a GREAT cause. This was a great run for many different reasons….

Week 1: Lost in Unfamiliar Territory and Birthday Surprises…Beep Beep Beep
Monday was day one of my four week training plan (first phase of 12-week training) and I just happened to be in Cary, North Carolina (close to Raleigh) of all places. I arrived in Cary around 10 o’clock Sunday evening. I knew I was going to meet up with the BGR! Raleigh crew, so I wanted to turn in and be ready for my 5:00 am run. Such a great feeling knowing that you can go to a city and have a group of sole sistahs to meet up with and run run run. Woke up that morning with no issues…I was ready!!!
Even with the weather being 34 degrees, nothing was going to stop me from getting my run on (Missy’s Get Your Freak On just popped in my head 🙂 ). I was excited for two reasons; first, I was starting my training plan that my running coach created (working on speed baby) and second, I’m in a new city and I have someone to run with. #WINNING
Wrong…I got lost 😦 …
Running, Yorkies and Playbills…Finally Race Week is Complete!!!!
Yes I have turned things around and still on my natural high!!! It’s amazing what you can do when you focus and shift your energy. Well I was supposed to start the week off with a 7 mile run on Monday. I jumped up, got dressed and headed outside. I’m ready!!!
Nothing seemed to work for me that morning…
Tapering and Turkey Day: Week 6
It rained almost all day Sunday, so needless to say I didn’t get my long run in at the start of the week. I did however, go long on Monday morning. I woke up without a doubt in my mind that I would go out for a run. I met up with a BGR! Columbia member at 5:00 am and we headed out for a 12 mile run. We didn’t quite make the 12 miles but I did get in 11. Yeah I know I could have stayed a little longer to get in that last mile, but I was late getting back home to get ready for work. Hey looks like my energy has turned around…this was a great run!!!
Another Crappy Week of Running and Food Poisoning: Week 4/5
I ended week 3 stating that I was going to change my energy…in my defense when I wrote week 3, I was already four days into week 4 (shame on me for back dating the post). Well I did try to change my energy and woke up Friday morning and hit the pavement with BGR! Team 5:00 am on the Northeast side. I got in five miles at a nice pace (8’05) with the ladies. I really felt great that morning. Nice little run to prep me for my long run on Saturday.
