Welcome to week 2 of my first cycle of half marathon training (4 cycles total). If this is your first time reading one of my training post, this time around I’m prepping to PR on my half in Dallas, TX in December 2015 and sharing my experiences along the way. You can read the previous week below:
Week 2 September 14-20, 2015
If you read my I’m Back….Deuces Summer blog you would understand how excited I am to get back to what I love; training, running and blogging.
I have really been looking forward to this half marathon training cycle. If you remember last year my goal was to PR for my half in April of 2015. I worked with a coach to help me reach my goal but as you know, things never go as planned. The last week of training, I injured my hamstring. Needless to say I didn’t PR 😦 .
Moving forward, I have decided to work on speed and get back on track with my goal to PR at the Dallas Marathon (Half) in December. I’m going to take the training plan that was created for me for my last half and tweak it here and there.
OK by far this was the worst week ever. OK maybe not ever because we all know it was very rocky in the beginning of my training. If I had to give this week a grade it would definitely be a F. But it wasn’t all bad….
Alright, alright, alright (in my best Kevin Hart voice)…this week was GREAT and will be one to remember. I really really feel like I’m back on my A-game!!! #winning.
Monday was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and most folks had the day off from work. Our group leader put a filler out on the page to see if any one would be interested in starting at a later time versus starting at 5:00 am. The ladies all responded with an overwhelming 7:00 am. Whoo hoo…I could sleep in. Now after all this time (last three weeks trying to get back on schedule) here I am excited to sleep in SMH. But as you know things never go as planned…
Whoo hoo!!!! I think I’m back on track with getting up at 4 in the morning. Now I just need to figure out how to get up and get moving to hit the pavement at 5 in the morning 🙂 . Well, Monday started out very promising. I was looking forward to meeting my BGR! Columbia sole sistahs at the Summit Library at 5 am. Alarm went off, I woke up…checked the group page on Facebook and the group run was CANCELED due to rain. Time to initiate plan B…..
