Week 3: Another Crappy Week!!!

As you might remember, week 3 started off with me having to do my long run on Sunday.  Yep, started the week off with 14 miles.  The run wasn’t bad but man was it cold out.  Now I’m used to running in cold weather but it has been a minute (actually three seasons ago 🙂 ).   Even with my stank face, I got out there and handled my business.

If I do as well as I did on this run (hills included) I should be just fine with making a PR on my next half. 🙂  Now mind you my goal for my next half is a sub 2:00.

This week had me questioning hanging up my running shoes….

Have you ever woken up and felt like you don’t want to do anything? That’s exactly how I felt Monday morning.  Alarm went off at its usual time (4:05 am) but I wasn’t feeling it.  So I just reset my alarm for a later time.  Now the thought did cross my mind to just run later that morning (around 7) since I had an appointment but again I just wasn’t feeling it.  I really hate when I wake up feeling like this because I know I still have to get my run in for the day (unless I have a rest day set for later in the week and can just switch the two out).  Running by myself in the evening has proven to be very difficult.  I’m just not motivated enough.  Now when I have someone to meet in the evenings it’s easy peasy.  I really wish I had someone who  was dedicated to running and training who enjoys a good 7-9 mile run after work that I could run with.  Even knowing all this I still chose to stay in bed.  Needless to say, I was not looking forward to the evening run but knowing that it must be done, I had to do it.  A trainer’s work is never done (especially if you want the best results).  Well I ended up running on the treadmill….no not the whole 9 miles….I split it up into two runs (4.5 miles each).

Week one complete….six more to go……

After my half marathon last week, I figured I might as well sign up for another one.  I even agreed to be a pacer.  Pacemakers are experienced runners tasked to complete the course in a given time (I volunteered for the 2:00 hr pace).  Now mind you I wouldn’t consider myself to be an experienced runner…I’m just someone whom likes to run.  I do however feel as though I can lead runners to the finish line in the allotted time.  My main focus over the next few weeks is to really concentrate on my pacing and not go out to fast or to slow (wish me luck on that one).  I guess  I will also read up on how to be a great pacer (not only for myself but for the runners willing to follow me).

Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon – October 19, 2014

I heard so many good things about this half marathon that I wanted to try it out for myself.

I arrived in Myrtle Beach on Friday evening and made it to the expo to pick up my race packet and of course take a few pictures.  I think this was my first time at an expo.  Usually I’m just running in to pick up packet and then leaving right back out.  This time I got to take in the scene at the mini expo. #noshade

My Ragnar DC Experience – September 12-13, 2014

Ragnar Relay 2014 [Cumberland to National Harbor, 199 miles]:

What the Hell’o is a Ragnar?

Ragnar is a relay race that goes all day and all night over the course of two days.  It is made up of a team of 12 bad azzes (in our case we had two teams….24 bad azzes), where each team member runs three legs of the relay race totaling up to about 200 miles.  Running RagnarDC was one of the most exciting things I have ever done. And yes, YES, I would do it again!!!  I really enjoyed being apart of a team and meeting new people.  The memories from RagnarDC and friendships that I have made will be REMEMBERED FOREVER.  I think I’m still on a runner’s high!!!!
