Let me just start by saying….I AM THE WEAKEST LINK!!!! Yes, I realize I have to crawl before I walk but man this weight training is no joke. Which for me is a good thing. I love to push and challenge myself and I think I’m going to be able to do just that at Columbia Fitness Boot Camp.

Race 13.1 Evans, GA – April 26, 2015
“Race 13.1 is the southeast’s premier half marathon series that spans over 20 counties in 7 states in the southeast”. This was the first year for Race 13.1 in Evans, GA. Since this race took place right down the street from where I used to live in Georgia, I just had to be there!!! I was really surprised with the turnout; there wasn’t that many people there for the event (no joke, had I been on my A game, I could have finally placed in a half marathon 🙂 (yeah I said it LOL). Since Augusta, GA is known as the home of the “Godfather of Soul”, James Brown, and only a short distance from Evans, it only seemed fitting for the theme of the race to be ‘I Feel Good’.
Heart & Sole Women’s Five Miler – April 25, 2015
With the Heart & Sole Women’s Five Miler being a women’s only road race, I just had to be there and represent for my crew; Black Girls Run! (BGR) Columbia. We had over 30 BGR sole sistahs sign up and participate in the race. We even ran and/or walked in the rain.
This race, was established in 2002, and is an event that is strictly for women put together by women. I loved the fact that the Heart & Sole calls attention to heart disease in women. I was more than happy to participate in this year’s run, knowing that the proceeds provided complimentary entries for certain women in the community who were identified at risk for heart disease, women who couldn’t afford the race fee and women with heart conditions that couldn’t afford cardiac rehabilitation.

Palmetto 200 Relay, March 20-21, 2015
Now that I finally received my bling…I can post my blog about my Palmetto 200 Relay experience….
What is the Palmetto 200 Relay?
An overnight relay race, where teams of 12 run over 200 miles from the Coble Plaza in Columbia, SC to Patriots Point in Charleston, SC.
The Palmetto 200 treated us to the Three Rivers Greenway, Santee State Park, Lonestar BBQ, farm communities, lakes, Fort Moultrie, the Ravenel Bridge, historic Charleston and the coastal waters.
Why the Palmetto 200?
After Ragnar DC in September 2014 (you can read about it here), I said I had to do at least one more relay.
Rock and Roll Raleigh Half Marathon – April 12, 2015
Being the ‘World’s Largest Running Series’, the Rock and Roll Series attracts over 500,000 people taking part in 26 American cities each year. This year I just had to be a part of that. I also loved the fact that the benefiting charity was the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
The V Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to saving lives by helping to find a cure for cancer. The Foundation seeks to make a difference by generating broad-based support for cancer research and by creating an urgent awareness among all Americans of the importance of the war against cancer.
